Negroni Bay Recipe!

OH  HELLO,
g   o   r   g   e   o   u   s!
This is exciting, two posts in one day (omg!) and boy does it feel good. It's only "6pm" and I feel like I've totally crushed this Sunday. That extra hour has been really good to me.

One thing I got to do this weekend was make one seriously delicious (and beautiful) cocktail. As you probably know, Pete and I absolutely love hosting people to our home! We enjoy preparing our house, lots of snacks and of course that always includes delicious cocktails for our guests to enjoy.

Today I'm sharing with you a great & simple cocktail with Georgian Bay Gin (my favourite!) This is a good one now that the weather is getting cooler and more cosy. Hope you enjoy!

Negroni Bay:
3/4 oz. Georgian Bay Gin
3/4 oz. Italian Sweet Vermouth
3/4 oz. Aperol
3/4 oz. Cointreau
2 Dash Orange Bitters

* Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir (or shake!) with ice. Strain into an old fashioned glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with orange zest.

Enjoy with friends & people you love! This was so delicious. Pete and I loved it and will definitely be making it again when we have friends over at our place.

5 quick hostess tips!

h a p p y     s a t u r d a y
Oh hey guys! Here we are on a very sunny Saturday. I realized it's been nine days since my last post (because I swear February has literally flown by in what feels like two weeks!)

I thought it would be fun to do a little post about one of my favourite things - hosting! I get so excited to have people over and to decorate and make them something lovely. I came across these old photos from when Pete and I had some friends over for brunch, and it made me excited to do it again, and also excited to share a few of my go-to hostess tips.

So here are 5 quick & easy tips for hosting!:

1. Always put out your cutest, best decor! The set up is what makes it so perfect. Bust out those napkins you've been saving, dust off what your fancy glasses and colourful dishes and make this your best spread yet!

2. Fresh flowers are a must! I think this rule applies to so many things in my life (haha) but nothing makes a party/meal/event better than some lovely fresh flowers. Find that little market near your place where you can get awesome flowers at a reasonable price!

3. Try a new recipe! People love trying something different, and love to know something is homemade. Try that recipe you've been saving for a while from a magazine or a blog post! Always plan to make something you've made before just in case.

4. Personalize it! It's so nice when you go somewhere and can see that someone was expecting you and making you feel welcome. You can make custom signs or name tags, or fill your home with things that are their favourites

5. Don't forget about custom drinks! If it's a dinner then making cocktails or having nice wine is always a good option, if it's breakfast, lunch or brunch then having tea, coffee, and maybe a mimosa or caesar because who would be mad about that?

happy hosting you guys! I think I'm do to invite some friends over too! ♥

Wine & Cheese Please! - Enigma Wine Review

H e l l o   S u n d a y !

Pete and I had an awesome weekend! It was pretty low key but we still had a fun and productive time. Since we are just under seven months from our wedding, we are doing more date nights in, that way we can save some dough, and keep it nice & cosy! It's definitely one of my favourite kinds of nights.

We headed out for a walk to get some cheese and snacks to go with this delicious Enigma wine! I've been really in to white wine for the last while, but I must admit with the seasons changing and the cold weather approaching, I am loving red too. We tried a bit of each wine with our late lunch/early dinner.

Enigma is definitely a great find for a delicious and affordable wine! It's currently hitting the shelves at all LCBO stores, and retails for $13.95 - now that the holidays are getting closer, it's a perfect wine for a hostess gift, your holiday party or to give friends and co-workers. We will be stocking our bar for the holidays with Enigma for those sweet cosy nights celebrating with friends! ♥

Our Favourite Meal + Making Your Food Look Pretty!

h a p p y   t u e s d a y ♥

Life has been insane lately, and after a wild and busy birthday weekend and wonderland all day yesterday, I am feeling like it's time to slow down, relax and have some "me time" for the next couple of weeks. I cannot wait for Fall because I absolutely love that time of year. I am ready of cosy evenings, layered clothes, reading books, working on my blog, spend time at home, drinking coffee and just working on some really exciting things.

So for my post today - I am sharing (one of) mine and Pete's favourite meals to make! We have always loved a "snacky" type meal and change it up every time, but no matter what it's always delicious. Ideally, we will go to a market to get something local and fresh. And since I love the host and plan parties, this always gives me a chance to make our food not only look yummy, but also have a super cute spread before eating it!

Here are some shots of our cute-as-can-be snack spreads! // some of our favourite things to eat during our snack dinner: cheese (any kind and every kind ever), olives, pickles, crackers, fresh bread, cucumber, carrots, celery, bruschetta, grapes, berries, and nothing tops it all off better than some wine and fresh flowers (basically mandatory for a successful meal!)
