5 things to do every sunday (to start your week off right!)

Happy Sunday! My favourite day of the week!
// How is everyone doing on this lovely Sunday? I am blogging from an adorable little coffee shop in Toronto called The Tenant and it's been a seriously lovely Sunday so far.

Sunday has always been my favourite day of the week, since I was a little one. Sunday is just always a productive, fun, relaxing and all around great day for me. It's 4:30pm and I already feel like I've accomplished so much, and I thought it would be fun to share with you some things I always like to do on Sunday's to start my week off on the right foot.

// one; Go grocery shopping! We generally do our weekly grocery shop on Sunday's and it's always a good idea to help feel prepared and ready for the week ahead. Going earlier in the day and with the list is an absolute game changer! We try our best to pre-plan our meals so we aren't wasting anything or stuck with no options. Also, a trip for shopping - get an app that shows your flyers for stores near you to see what's on sale, I used one call Reebee and it's great!

// two; Have some "me-time" whether it's painting your nails, having a bath, going shopping, heading to a coffee shop or sitting outside reading a book - I think spending an hour or so to relax and be one with your thoughts it's always really nice and feels perfect for a Sunday.

// three; Make a delicious meal! This morning when Pete and I went to go get groceries, I said "I wanna make you a cute brunch!" and I got all the things I needed to make it as soon as we got home. We've been so busy lately that it seems we haven't even had time to sit down and eat together, so taking the time to at least do one nice home cooked meal on Sunday is always wonderful. Today we are lucky enough to have two because Pete's making us a Sunday Night Dinner!

// four; Plan your week! Even though I try not to have plans every day of the week, it does happen sometimes (especially in the Summer) Use a planner, or your phone to finalize your plans for the week, and the following weekend and then if you have a free day...savour it! (lololol)

// five; Read your favourite blogs! Remember those? With Instagram, Twitter and everything in between, sometimes we forget that there are still so many amazing, talented people out there producing content for us to read! I am going to try to make an extra effort to read new & old blogs and leave comments as much as I can.

What is your favourite thing to do on a Sunday?

Happy Easter + Homemade Macaroon Baskets!

Hello! + Happy Sunday! + Happy Easter!

It's been such an amazing and relaxing weekend. I am feeling happy and refreshed and smiley on this (chilly) Easter Sunday. Yesterday I decided to make some Easter treats that I saw on the cover of my Martha Stewart Living magazine -They are perfectly cute and delicious and easy as pie to make!

Here's what you'll need:
  • 1 pkg (14 ounces) sweetened shredded coconut (fyi - this is 2 bags, 400 grams for my canadian bakers out there!)
  • mini eggs (make sure you hide from your boyfriend/hubby)
  • 4 large egg whites
  • vegetable cooking spray
  • 1/2 teaspoon of course salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Coat mini muffin tins with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, stir together whites and salt with a fork; mix in coconut. Drop 2 tablespoons of mixture into each prepared tin.
  3. Lightly press mixture into bottom and up sides of each cup. Bake until light golden on top, 28 to 30 minutes.
  4. Let cool in tins on a wire rack 10 minutes, then run a thin metal spatula around sides to loosen. Lift out of cups; let cool completely.
Here's how these little cuties turned out! Oh they are just too adorable, and look even better on this  beautiful vintage plate that Pete's Mom gave to me. They belonged to Pete's Nana and they are SO lovely and the most amazing colour.

Celebrate Every Day - DIY Confetti Packets!

Well, Happy Sunday Beautiful! I hope your day was absolutely magical. I definitely had an awesome day (and weekend.) Over the past week I've realized a few things, and one of them is that every single day is a celebration. When it really comes down to it, not everything is ever going to be perfect, and maybe we don't always get everything that we want - but if you're healthy, and you've got a home, and a job, and people to love and people who love you...then you're truly lucky. Sometimes things need to happen for us to realize this, and it is always a good reminder.

Now, I am sure you've noticed that I really like celebrations! I like sparkles, and paper straws, pretty napkins, confetti, party hats, treats bags and any added touch to make a party special. I recently got a giant bag of sparkly confetti, and thought I really ought to make some confetti packets!
What you'll need:
  • a giant bag of confetti
  • mini clear goodie bags
  • a stapler
  • plain brown labels
  • felt tip pen
  • the will to cover your home in confetti
// took my giant bag of confetti, and stuffed each about three quarters full
// shake em off to get the confetti packed down and looking cute as can be
// fold bag in half and staple both sides down
// write a cute word or phrase on a label and stick it on!
// i usually add some washii tape over the top in the end too!

Cute Toronto ; Kensington Market (Pedestrian Sunday)

Happy Sunday to you all. Another week has come and gone and I had an absolutely wonderful weekend! Some highlights include ; going to an Etsy Craft Show, hanging in Trinity Bellwoods, drinks at C'est What, seeing Seth Meyers live! (he was SO SO SO good!), dancing the night away at the Drake Hotel, and spending this beautiful sunny day in Kensington Market.

Kensington Market is definitely one of my favourite spots in Toronto. If I ever have a free day with nothing to do, I love to go an explore Kensington. Pete and I go there when we can and today I went because it was Pedestrian Sunday. This happens on the last Sunday of the month during the Summer. They close down all the streets and have food vendors set up everywhere! As well as vintage finds, craft stands, live music, art, street performers etc. It's nothing but good vibes only and everyone is just having the most amazing time.

I explored around, and grabbed a coffee, listened to some music, got some fresh bread, cheese and veggies and snapped some photo's. I also got some photo's of one of my favourite vintage shops "a home run t.o" and am going to do another blog post all about it very soon!

I think today was the perfect way to start my week! Have an amazing week babes! xo
