colourful L.A.

h e l l o   m o n d a y! ( &   a p r i l )

This is one of my final California blog posts, and today I am sharing some colourful snaps from our time in L.A.! We stayed in Silver Lake, which is a super hip, cool and fun area! Out Air B&B was amaaaazing and so very cool. It had such an awesome vibe so it was fun to hang there and listen to tunes, have a few drinks and just chill. Our hosts were beyond lovely.

We knew L.A. would be wonderful and filled with cool little spots, sunshine and celebrities! So many people had told us how key it is to have a car when exploring this city, and that could definitely not be more true! I've never been to a city that was more spread out than L.A. and it actually made me appreciate Toronto even more!

Our days were spent walking around in the (perfect) sunshine, checking out coffee shops, cool stores, restaurants and so many beautiful, bright colours! One of my favourite parts of Cali in general was all the inspirational quotes everywhere and all of the bright colours.

We spent most of our time exploring Silver Lake, Echo Park and West Hollywood. Oh, annnnnd I finally got to cross off a big dream of mine! A bus tour! lolz. I always try to get Pete to do one of these when we travel, and he finally caved this time. We did a hop on hop off tour of Hollywood and it! was! so! fun!

We saw a lot of cool shit while we were in L.A. and here are just a few snaps of what we saw! Surprisingly, this is the spot I took the least amount of photos!

i fell in love (with a coffee & flower shop) in san diego

// Happy Sunday Y'all.

I've been meaning to start my Cali blog post(s) for the past week and a half or so, and I am glad that I am finally getting around to it! As you can imagine I took a lotttt of photo's on our California trip. Between my IPhone and my DSLR, I can safely say we had all things covered.

I am going to be sharing bits and pieces of our trip for the next little while and tonight I am talking about one of the cuuuutest spots of our trip (and ever) Coffee + Flowers AKA Communal Coffee and Native Poppy- this was one of the first places I had found out about when researching things to do in San Diego and it most definitely did not disappoint.

As soon as we pulled up and the sun was shining down on the giant type reading COFFEE + FLOWERS, I knew I had found my spot. Pete and I grabbed coffee and breakfast and sat outside in their absolutely adorable back courtyard. We both had delicious egg & veggie type meals, coffees and then the most devine lavender/goat cheese + honey toast (ohhh emmmm geeeee)

Communal Coffee and Native Poppy are two totally separate businesses who join forces together to share one really big, beautiful, dreaaaamy space. As I walked around looking at every detail I couldn't help but sigh at the realization that this place was so similar to how I picture my dream shop would be.

Coffee + Flowers are legit two of my favourite things in the world and I am so glad we got to visit this spot. Very special and most definitely recommended for suuuuuure. I got some really cute stuff from the shop - a tote bag, an amazing soda class & a pretty necklace.

San Diego was sunny, friendly and filled with cute! Loved it. I've got my Cali posts coming soon, including one that will be all about the cutest store I've ever been to - Pigment

travel dreamin'

(colombia)
OH HEY THERE! Happy Saturday Y'all ♥

So, I've gotta say that I'm really feeling the travel itch right now! Pete and I had a chat the other night about our next adventure (which made me SO excited of course) We looked at our schedules roughly for the year to see when can find time to go away.

We're thinking of taking a trip between Christmas and New Years this year - which is so exciting and something we've actually never done before. Pete and I both get the whole week off during this time so we thought it'd be perfect.

So, now the fun part! Deciding where to travel to next! Pete and I have been lucky enough to take lots of fun trips over the years and it's something we always really look forward to. We've just slowly started doing some research about our next adventure but I'm already so excited. We've still got lots of places on our bucket list and I'm looking forward to learning more in the next while.

Where do you want to travel to next?!

our road trip to pittsburgh!

Hello & Happy Monday!

A few weeks ago Pete and I went on a road trip with my brother Dave and his boyfriend Mikey. We wanted to go somewhere new & explore and since Pittsburgh is only about five hours from Toronto we thought it would be fun to go for it.

We all researched some cool places to go and before we knew it we had a seriously jam packed weekend on our hands! We had lots of laughs, good drinks, great food and saw some really awesome stuff. I am sure there are some cool things we didn't quite get to in our weekend in Pittsburgh, but here are six things to do/see while you're there:

1. The Ace Hotel // We spent a lotttt of time at The Ace Hotel during our short time in Pittsburgh. It's a beautiful, bright and unique space and we just fell in love with it. We had dinner there on Friday night (omg, so good), We had coffee there Saturday morning and then we made it back for cocktails and good times on Saturday night! We found a big party in the gymnasium and of course took some Photo Booth photo's.

2. Mattress Factory // What an insanely cool place. The mattress factory was a bunch of big houses with art installations inside. It was honestly amazing. I am not an overly huge fan of museums and galleries but this was one of my favourites. It was REALLY hot, but we spent a good four hours checking it out, and then having lunch at the cafe inside.

3. Randyland // Where all your weirdest & wildest dreams come true. This was one of the first places I found when doing some research on Pittsburgh. It's basically just a giant house and yard filled with crazy colourful garbage (lol) it was a short walk from mattress factory and a very awesome and photo worthy spot to visit!

4. Andy Warhol Museum // This was our very stop on our weekend adventures! WHAT A COOL PLACE! Andy Warhol was such a amazing, creative artist and I loved learning more about his life and his art. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh so it felt extra special to be there.

5. Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens // This was on our last stop (and was actually the hottest day ever) but was most definitely worth it. It was actually my first time going to a botanical garden, and if you know me you know one of my favourite things in life are flowers! We saw so many cool plants and flowers and rooms of all different themes. Definitely check it out if you're visiting.

6. The Vandal // I found The Vandal online and thought it seemed like the coolest restaurant in Pittsburgh and I think I was right! We actually tried to go there a few times until we finally made it there on Sunday for brunch. The coffee and food was delicious and it was so cool inside! We all really enjoyed it and think it was worth the wait!
